Welcome to the Little Micro Homesteader
A cozy corner of the prairies where simple living, handmade beauty, and family-centered creativity come together. I'm Erin - a full-time working mom, maker, and micro-homesteader rooted in the wide-open prairies of Saskatchewan.
Between my career, raising two adventurous girls, and building our family's handmade brand, I've learned that a meaningful, grounded life doesn't require acres of land or endless free time. It grows from intention, creativity, and the small choices we make every day.
Our Prairie-Rooted Story
Our family lives just outside Saskatoon, where the sky stretches forever and the seasons shape our rhythm. We don't have a big farm - just a small yard, a Tower Garden, a growing collection of herbs, and a deep desire to live closer to the land. Micro-homesteading became our way of slowing down, reconnecting, and finding purpose in the everyday moments.
Why I Started the Little Micro Homesteader
This space was born from a simple idea: You can build a beautiful, intentional life right where you are, with what you have.
I wanted to create a place where:
-
Busy families can learn to grow food in small spaces
-
Makers can find inspiration for handmade self-care
-
Prairie-rooted living feels accessible and real
-
Stories of healing and purpose can be shared
-
Community can grow, one step at a time
It's also an extension of my handmade brand, Prairie Lavender Works - a place where I can craft small-batch, prairie-inspired products that bring calm and comfort into everyday life.

A Life Built on Small Beginnings
I believe in the power of tiny steps: planting one herb, making one handmade item, choosing one moment of calm in a busy day. These small beginnings shape a life that feels intentional, connected, and deeply meaningful.
I'm so glad you're here.
